The church of St. Michael at Much Hoole was in the news in 2004, courtesy of Jeremiah Horrocks who, in November 1639 correctly predicted - and successfully recorded - the transit of Venus. Bank Hall (right) can also be seen in this new window.

The heart of Churchtown - a small village retaining its' old-fashioned airs just north of Southport.
The nearby Botanic Gardens are justly famous, as are the old fishermen's cottages, lovingly preserved and lived in to this day.
